Your Data Rights

Your data belongs to you. This page explains the rights you have over the personal data Budgetify AI holds and exactly how to use them. For the full detail of how we handle data, see our Privacy Policy.

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you can:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• get a copy of your data in a portable format;
• correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
• delete your data, in the circumstances the law allows;
• restrict or object to certain uses of your data;
• withdraw consent you have given;
• complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

You can request a copy of your data, including your transactions, budgets and goals, at any time. Email hello@budgetifyai.com with the subject “Data export request”, and we will provide your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.

You can update much of your information directly in your account settings. If something cannot be changed there, email hello@budgetifyai.com and we will correct it.

You can ask us to delete your data and close your account by emailing hello@budgetifyai.com.

If you have money protected with a licensed partner, you will need to withdraw it first. Please also note that we may keep certain records for as long as the law requires, even after your account is closed.

You can turn off notification channels and automated actions in your settings at any time, and you can disconnect a financial account to stop new data being collected from it. To object to or restrict other processing, contact us and we will review your request.

To protect your data, we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within the timeframes set by the NDPA. Most requests are free; if a request is excessive or repetitive, we will tell you before doing anything that may involve a fee.

We hope to resolve any concern directly, so please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you believe we have not handled your data properly.
